ZERO WASTE BORNHOLM

By 2023 Bornholm plans to become the first waste free Island. An ambitious and conscious initiative that should set the scene for a new way of living. Therefore, last friday Lea Wermelin, the Danish minister of environment has visited BOFA, Bornholm’s waste management authority, to learn more about the strategies that will soon be implemented on the island.
Amongst others, some of the topics discussed included: a new tender for collection of household waste; partnerships with local schools to secure integration of technical waste solutions and teaching of sustainability as well as a new cooperation with civic society to secure circular economy based on adding value from reuse.
